Pharmacy First

If you are suffering from one of these conditions you do not need to wait to see the doctor. Pharmacists can give you advice and treatment. Advice is always free. If you don’t pay for prescriptions then treatment will also be free under a scheme called Pharmacy First. If you do pay for your prescriptions you can still join this scheme, but you will have to pay for any medication supplied, but this will still generally be cheaper than a prescription.

How do I join the scheme?

  • Collect a booklet from a participating pharmacy counter
  • You must take your Pharmacy First Booklet and evidence that you do not have to pay for prescriptions with you each time to use Pharmacy First
  • The Pharmacist will ask some questions about your symptoms and they will give you advice on how best to deal with your symptoms and the right medicine for you if you need any.
